Regression to cause is used within hypno-analysis and is used for a specific symptom pattern or for when the Client is only being affected in a specific area of their life and can function happily in most areas. The methodology with regression to cause is to facilitate regression of the client to their formative years to the initial sensitising event, the emotionally charged event and allow catharsis to take place, releasing the associated neurosis and any negative symptom pattern.
